- Commercial form: paving or industrial bitumen supplied hot in bulk, in drums, bags or another defined format.
- Decision-critical facts: penetration or performance grade, packaging, heating requirements, climate, project schedule and discharge capability.
- Typical movement: heated tanker, vessel, flexitank, drum or bag route selected around the buyer’s storage and application method.
- First feasibility test: grade, packaging and temperature-control plan must suit the destination project.
Bitumen brokerage and commercial scope
REVDICO considers Bitumen opportunities involving road contractors, waterproofing manufacturers, infrastructure suppliers, terminals and bulk or drum distributors. This Bitumen page helps a buyer, supplier or authorised representative describe an executable transaction instead of circulating a commodity label without the facts needed for matching.
The name Bitumen is not a complete commercial description. For Bitumen, REVDICO first examines whether specification, scale, geography, timing and counterparty roles form a coherent basis for further discussion.
Defining the Bitumen specification
Bitumen must be described by grade and intended application, such as paving penetration grade, viscosity grade, performance grade, oxidised bitumen or another defined product. Penetration, softening point, ductility, viscosity and packaging cannot be left to a generic “bitumen” label.
An alternative Bitumen specification should be identified as an alternative, not assumed to be equivalent. For Bitumen, the parties should state which parameters are mandatory, which have tolerances and which can be resolved through a sample, inspection or price adjustment.
What a Bitumen buyer should provide
A buyer should identify the project or distribution use, required grade, total and shipment quantity, destination, preferred packaging and delivery schedule. Climatic conditions, local specifications, discharge method and heating capability may exclude otherwise available material.
The buying entity and authorised contact for Bitumen should be identifiable. Its requirement should explain whether it is a trial, spot purchase or recurring programme and which Bitumen facts must be confirmed before proceeding.
What a Bitumen supplier should provide
A supplier should state refinery or production origin, exact grade, available packaging, loading point, heating and handling arrangements, minimum quantity and supporting test documentation. Drum, jumbo-bag and bulk offers require different logistics and should not be presented as equivalent.
A supplier, mandate or broker discussing Bitumen should describe its relationship to the principal. REVDICO does not treat forwarded Bitumen claims as verified supply and may request clarification before sensitive information or contacts are circulated.
Commercial quantity and programme
Road projects often need phased deliveries rather than one annual headline volume. The schedule should reflect site consumption, storage, weather windows and the practical number of trucks, containers or heated vessel parcels.
A headline annual Bitumen volume is useful only when supported by realistic shipment or delivery sizes. The delivery cadence for Bitumen should match production, storage, transport, finance and receiving capability on both sides.
Bitumen logistics and delivery structure
Bulk bitumen normally requires temperature-controlled storage, loading and discharge, while drums or bags introduce container, pallet, melting and waste-handling considerations. Port facilities, heating losses and inland haulage can dominate delivered economics.
The Incoterm selected for Bitumen should correspond to the point the parties can actually control. Freight, insurance, customs, handling, storage, losses, inspection and inland delivery for Bitumen should be stated rather than hidden behind a familiar abbreviation.
Quality, inspection and transaction documents
Supplier test results should match the offered grade and production lot, with independent inspection or sampling agreed where appropriate. Contract terms should address temperature, packaging integrity, contamination and rejection or price adjustment for non-conforming material.
Sensitive records relating to Bitumen should be shared for a defined purpose and at an appropriate stage. Historic or representative documents may illustrate capability, but they are not proof of a current Bitumen lot or allocation.
Pricing Bitumen on a comparable basis
Bitumen comparisons require the same grade, packing basis, load size, origin, Incoterm and delivery period. Drum cost, container utilisation, heating, demurrage and inland trucking may be more important than a small difference in ex-works price.
A commercial Bitumen indication should identify its basis, quantity, quality, location, validity and included costs so the counterparty can compare like with like.
Material commercial and compliance risks
A petroleum product certificate alone does not prove the required paving or industrial bitumen grade. Buyers should be cautious where packaging, heating, route, production source or seasonal project schedule cannot be explained.
Independent legal, technical, financial and commercial due diligence for Bitumen remains with the contracting parties. REVDICO may decline the Bitumen opportunity where authority, documentation, origin, route or payment cannot be clarified.

Bitumen brokerage FAQ
Does REVDICO own Bitumen inventory?
No. For Bitumen, REVDICO acts as an independent commodity broker unless transaction-specific written documents expressly establish another role.
Can a Bitumen enquiry omit the exact grade or destination?
An initial Bitumen discussion may be possible, but meaningful assessment normally requires both; missing technical or geographic facts change price, logistics and relevant counterparties.
Can an authorised broker submit Bitumen information?
Yes. A broker discussing Bitumen should identify the represented side, explain its authority and avoid forwarding unsupported or stale documents through an opaque chain.
Present a defined Bitumen transaction
The initial review is free; for Bitumen, state whether you are buying, supplying or representing a principal, then provide the specification, quantity, relevant location, delivery basis, timing and company details.
